Awning Windows

Installing the Windows
After much anticipation the windows finally arrived. It was worth the wait. They are just what we wanted and look superb (even if we do say so ourselves ; )
-
Our thanks to Matthew at Delta Windows for his patience while we reworked, and reworked again, the very long and involved window schedule.
Most of our windows are double glazed as it gets very cold here in Canberra (-6 to -10 in Winter). With the number of windows we have we figured it made sense to insulate them.
Glass Bricks

Marking out the Drainage Trenches
While we waited on the awning windows to arrive we thought we would try our hand at the glass brick windows in the garage. We purchased the windows as a "do-it-yourself" kit from Glass Bricks and Skylights and were very impressed with the product. Everything we needed was delivered as a package including, prefabricated frames, mortar, spacers, strengthening bars, glass bricks and expansion foam.
Most importantly it came with detailed instructions which was very useful for first timers : )

Tips and Tricks
- It isn't as hard to lay glass bricks as it might seem, so if your happy to get grubby and very hands-on then you can save on costs. The brickies wanted to charge us $5 per brick which would have worked out at $665.
