The roof finally gets underway...
-
We were so used to seeing the house full of light that it was a little bit of a shock when the roof went on.
Tips and Tricks
- Make sure that the carpenters are spot on with the frames and trusses. If they are out even marginally (10-20mm) this will cause problems all the way up to the roof.
- If you have tiles - leave the pointing until you have done the internal sheeting as the hammering can crack the pointing!
- Ensure that you have some spare tiles left for repairs.
- Check your wind speed rating with your local council. We have clipped every tile and anti-flap pads (little foam pads stuffed under the batons to tension the sarking) to stop the sarking from flapping around in high wind.
- DON'T walk around in the house whilst the tilers are on the roof! The only tile that they dropped the whole job came down within a metre of me directly in my path!!
